Located in beautiful rural Hertfordshire, get away from it all and enjoy the thrill and adrenaline of dinghy sailing within easy travelling distance of London all the year around.

Aldenham Sailing Club welcomes new members of all sailing abilities from beginners to experienced club racers.  Located in Elstree, Hertfordshire, our club is situated in the midst of attractive countryside in the placid setting of Aldenham Country Park. Despite its rural environment it can be quickly reached from London suburbs with excellent road access via the M1, A41, A1 and M25.  An old established mature reservoir, Aldenham offers all year round sailing in a variety of conditions.

Aldenham is one of the oldest established club in the UK and has operated since the 1920’s with famous sailing personalities such as Ian Proctor as members.

The club is very family orientated by virtue of its keen sponsorship of the Pico and Optimist class for the juniors.  It has a dedicated youth sailing section which is committed to promoting sailing to young people.

For adults we have active racing fleets of Lasers, Illusions and Enterprises dinghies. Other classes of sailing dinghies are welcome.  We have a well organised full racing programme throughout the year for dinghies on Sundays and Wednesday racing for the Illusions.  During the Summer months we also have racing held on Wednesday evenings.

Open-meetings are hosted for the major classes.  The club is a RYA approved training establishment and runs training courses for beginners and more experienced sailors of all ages.  Members are entitled to free use of club facilities (including free coffee), and may sail at any time, subject to possible restrictions during racing and provided that adequate safety facilities are available.

For those that may be intimidated by racing, the club actively encourages cruising for families and less confident sailors.  Ad-hoc training and advice is also available on request.
