The Enterprise Fleet at ASC usually sees 5-10 boats participating in Club racing throughout the year.  The atmosphere within the fleet is competitive but informal with experienced helms more than ready to offer assistance and advice to newcomers.

Aldenham is an ideal venue to learn and hone your boating skills.  Inland waters always provide plenty of wind-shifting and opportunity to play the shifts.  Whether you’re at the top of the fleet or just starting out, this small club has a lot to offer.

If you are interested in crewing, the Class Captain can put you in touch with a helmsman who can get you on the water.

All members are required to participate in Race Officer duties, which is also a great way to learn from others the what & what not to dos on the water.

RACING

Club racing continues all year round.  On Sundays the first race is at 1054 am.  In the Summer a pursuit race takes place on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  Full details are in the Club's programme which is posted on the notice board near the entrance door – all members have their own copy.

Results:  Results are posted on this website each week when possible and can be emailed to you on request.

New to racing?  We all were once, and it can be daunting.  Speak to the class captain and I’ll try to find you someone to give you an introduction.  Barry Steel is the club racing coach and will give you some 1-2-1 tuition, or there’s an introduction to racing course in the Spring.

Enterprise Open Meeting at Aldenham Sailing Club 5th October 2008

Thirteen boats took to the water at Aldenham Reservoir in a wet and blustery southerly. The first race saw close racing with locals Antony Cole and Andrew Holmes (Aldenham SC) taking an early lead, to be overtaken by Neil Parsloe and Siobhan Ladyman (Broadwater SC) but swapping places again on the next lap. In steadily lightening winds Neil and Siobhan held ahead of the fleet with Antony and Andrew eventually being caught by Phil and Laura Bevan (Grafham SC) on the last lap and losing third place to Paul Young and Phil Harrison ( Midland SC) in close tacking up to the finish.

In dead calm conditions racing was postponed until after lunch. By 2.30pm the wind had filled and strengthened from the north with a distinct chill in the air. Two shorter back to back races followed; the blustery conditions providing exciting planing in the gusts, but also leading to some broken gear and capsizes, some spectacular, with only 8 boats finishing.Neil and Siobhan maintained their form with another first followed by Phil and Laura second and Martin and Laurance Davies (Rugby and Daventry SC) third.

The third race saw Paul and Phil lead from the start, comfortably taking first place. Behind them Antony and Andrew were under pressure from last year’s winners Martin and Laurance, and Neil and Siohan, and lost places again. In the last lap penalty turns by Neil and Siobhan for hitting the leeward mark gave another chance and on the last beat 3rd place was regained by Antony and Andrew.

The ASC Enterprise Open Trophy was awarded to Neil and Siobhan.

The Eastern Area Masters Trophy was awarded to Martin Davies as 1st Grand Master.
